Dear Literature Lover,
Recently, I have run out of books to read, which seems impossible. I ran out of Harry Potter. I ran out of Percy Jackson. I ran out Narnia. I ran out of Wilderwood; those books are huge! But I’ve read them all. I have no clue what to read next.
Do you have any suggestions? I like suspense, mystery, and fantasy.
I’m so glad you asked!
Before I start, I would like to congratulate you on finishing Wilderwood, which are humungus books. I tried to read one—and failed. If you have read all of them, then you are a skilled reader and a fantasy officidom.
Any way, let’s get down to business. Considering you like adventure, mystery, an suspence, then I think A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket will be good for you.
In “The Bad Beginning,” which is the first book of the series, the reader is introduced to Violet Baudelaire, who is 14 and an excellent inventor, Klaus Baudelaire, who is 12 and a very heavy reader, and Sunny Baudelaire, who is a newborn infant with very sharp teeth. Also we find out from Mr. Poe, the banker, the kid’s parents have “perished in a tribal fire. Perished means killed.”
The kids are sent to Count Olaf, who is either their parents third cousin four times removed or their fourth cousin three times removed. Either way, they are sent to live with him. Count Olaf turns out to be incredibly treacherous, unlike his neighbor, Justice Strauss, who is very kind and has a huge library. They soon find out that Count Olaf has a complicated and evil scheme to steal the Baudelaire. Will they ever escape the treachery of Count Olaf?
This 13-book long series is a great read. I would highly recommend watching the Netflix series too. There are only two seasons out of the three that Netflix is expected to make available. Brace yourselves A.S.O.U.E fans because Season 3 starts on January First of 2019. I myself am a HUGE fan of the series and I am super excited. I know how I’m going to celebrate the New Year with the next season of A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket.
